What products or/and what procedures do you use in order to grow your hair?

I use Aphogee shampoo and a Reconstructor Sulfur conditioner. I grew my hair for a while but now it seems like my hair doesnt want to grow again. Im tired of this length. Maybe my hair just got used to those products and I need something new.

Help me out oo..all of you wit ya hair growin like tree root. Help me out.

Taking vit b and msm also helps alot.

Don't know but I have had just totally bad experiences with them so far. In fact there is no salon that I have been to in NYC that didn't ruin my hair in some way. I have had to cut my hair three times in the one year I have been in NY.
It's really frustrating. The only thing I have been lucky so far is that I found a lady that cut my hair well. I went to her to get my hair relaxed and a hair cut but the girl who did my hair was so slow that my hair began burning and I had to ask to wash it, therefore my hair didn't get relaxed. The owner herself gave me the haircut and she did a good job. She was busy once so I went to another Dominican place and the lady chopped half my hair and didn't even get the style.
Another time, my hair had really grown so with all my bad experiences I asked a co-worker to recommend a place for me. I got there, apart from the fact that the lady used a very strong relaxer that made my hair looked scanty and lifeless for weeks, she also let chunk of natural hair in the middle. She relaxed the very bottom but left the middle out, so each time I wash my hair I have this afro puff in the middle.
Arrgh! I'm totally frustrated right now. Luckily I can do most things for my hair myself. I was really good at relaxing my hair myself but lately, I have been doing a bad job so that’s why I go to salons and also for haircut.

So NY people how do you do it? Salons here so far totally sucked and even worse since you can't tell until after your hair is ruined.

the B stuff ( can't think of the name right name bu it starts with a B...yuck)

- Nexxuss Botanoil shampoo, humectress conditioner, and reconstructor( wash your hair with the shampoo and conditioner at least once a week. Use the reconstructor every 3-4 wks)

-African Pride hairdress/oil or Bergamont hair
dress from Proclaim

No matter what brand you choose, stick to the routine of washing your hair at least once a week...let it air dry or blowdry on low. Once the hair is dry, oil the scalp with African Pride hairdressing/oil and wear however you desire.

* Its very very important that the scalp be oiled
(mind you, lightly oiled).
* If you live in a very cold area, make sure you
cover your head when you go out during the
winter and fall.
*Try to avoid wearing your hair "down" as much
as possible. In my humble opinion, braiding( cornrows/rolls) is he best way to
maintain healthy hair with reg. oiling. Some peeps say single braids help their hair grow though.
* Have your hair trimmed ~ every four weeks
* take vitamin E supplements daily ( its good for overall health too)

* If I had to pick one product out of the list above, I'd say Nexxus Humectress Conditioner...gotta luv it!

* If you relax your hair , I heard its best to get a
relaxer with lye... no-lye relaxers strip the hair

IF ONE HAS A RELAXER, EVERY FOUR OR FIVE WEEKS IS THE PERFECT WAY TO PERM IT... WAITING LONGER, UNLEESS YOU HAVE BRAIDS IS A NO NO...... NATURAL HAIR IS STRONGER THAN PERMED HAIR... WHEN YOU WAIT INCREDIBLY LONG PERIODS OF TIME TO PERM YOUR HAIR IT WILL BREAK!!!!! RIGHT WHERE THE PERMED HAIR STOPS AND THE NEW GROWTH BEGINS.....

THESE PRODUCTS CAN not I REPEAT NOT GROW YOUR HAIR.... SO MANY BLACK WOMEN IN GENERAL DO KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR HAIR.

HAIR NEEDS TO BE MOISTURIZED... ALCOHOL IS NOT GOOD FOR ANY PART OF THE BODY.... EVEN THE ONE IN MOST HAIR PRODUCTS... TRY TO FIND NON ALCOHOL BASED PRODUCTS.

TOO MUCH HEAT IS YOUR ENEMY. THINK ABOUT A PIECE OF MEAT. IF YOU COOK IT TOO MUCH THEN IT WILL CHAR AND TURN TO ASH JUST LIKE HAIR.

WRAP YOUR HAIR AT NIGHT WITH A SILK OR SATIN SCARF... IF YOU CANT KEEP IT ON... THEY SELL 3 OF 4 DOLLAR SATIN PILLOWS AT WAL MART...

LEARN HOW TO COMB YOUR HAIR!!!!! I SEE SO MANY OF MY SISTAS ABUSING THEIR HAIR BY THE WAY THEY COMB IT. COMB FROM THE END AND WORK UP TO THE ROOT...I GUARANTEE YOU WILL NOT LOSE NEARLY AS MUCH HAIR

RELAXERS NEED TO STOP BEING PUT IN BY PEOPLE WHO DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING...... IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO PUT IT IN IT IS BETTER TO NOT HAVE ONE AT ALL THAN TO BURN YOUR SCALP AND OVERPROCESS YOUR HAIR.

QUIT PUTTING IN RELAXERS ALL THE WAY TO THE TIPS OF YOUR HAIR... IT WONT MAKE IT SMOOTHER, JUST THINNER AND WISPIER LIKE A SPIDER WEB. IF YOU HAVE WAITED A MONTH TO PUT ON A PERM DONT RELAX 6MONTHS WORHT OF HAIR....BE SMART

THESE ARE SUGGESTIONS THAT I GIVE..... I USE THEM AND I LIVE BY THEM... MY MOMS HAIR WAS ABOUT AN INCH LONG AND NOW ITS HALF WAY DOWN HER BACK.... SHE DIDNT KNOW BEFORE BUT SHE KNOWS NOW........

Good Hair Bad Hair
Now what does it mean, to have some good hair
Is it hair that is better, never needs no repair
And what does it mean, to have some bad hair
Is it always the hair, that needs some repairs
Good hair and bad hair, what does all this mean
Is this all just some myths, or something we dream

Please tell us my sistahs, why is Afrikan hair bad
It started from childhood, oh how dreadfully sad
The torture, the heat , the burns, and the jerks
Everythang was tried, to see what would work

Now hair comes in textures, not good bad like grades
Has none?n to do with grades, how we have been played
We want ?good? hair, that?s what Black women say
But Black women have ?good? hair, don?t wish it away

So what my sistahs, does "good" hair really mean
Its hair that is healthy, at its best and its clean
Get ?bad? hair out, of your vocabulary and mind
Cuz its time for a new attitude, that you should define

Black women should define, their ?own? beauty that?s good
And change their ideals, from adults back to their childhood
Caucasian beauty, is not beauty to enshrine
Our lips, hips and skin, are much more defined
Why crave the Caucasian?s standards, that are vastly well known
When our own natural beauty, has vitality and life of its own

I use dominican hair products salerm21 conditioner and serum
also coconut oil
I get my hair pressed now instead of relaxed
stay away from products that contain mineral oil, it dries ur hair out.
I use wide teeth combs, and dont own a brush any more
wrap at night with a satin scarf always
keep it in a protective style if the weather is really bad, make sure ends stay oiled. Like here in MI, if i've to have my hair down in the cold, i always make sure i carry extra coconut oil to reapply at my ends since it'll dry up really quick.
If u go to a hairdresser, go to one that takes care of the hair, not necessarily styles
if u use a relaxer, pls dont do it urself, have someone who knows what they are doing, that way its only on new growth, and so ur hair isnt dry afterwards, and starts breaking in a few days.
