Is it really bad for the nails?? I'm growing my nails out so im getting my nails done every so often, but my friends are saying that its not good for your nails and actually weakens the nail structure leaving it more prone for breakage rather than futher growth...

it's bad for my nails. I had to grow natural nails for a couple of months because it thinned my nails so bad and they got hung, I don't know if u understand what I'm saying , but my nails looked like I chewed them off, maybe the glue was too strong or something, but i don't do that shit anymore

I told these asian peeps that do them for me to file them with an emery instead of the machine they use , but even that didn't make a difference.

Its not glue its acrylic! yeah thats exactly what my friends told me as well

why didnt you get them professionally taken off, does that reduce breakage..??

I'm not talking about what they use to fill the nail , I meant what they use to stick the nail before filling it..it's glue. U do that the first time and fill it like every week once it grows out till u change it.

But its only a little bit of glue considering they are only glueing the tip of your nails and fillup the rest with the acrylic, and as for filling up every week, i think its time you changed where you get yoyur nails done, i can last mine for up to five weeks without re-filling.

u're shitting me right ? or maybe u misunderstand me. My nails start to show signs of growing after one week , anything longer than two weeks look tacky to me, the acrylic starts shifting forward and u see the real nail underneath. Now I might take the whole acrylic off every 5 weeks to put in new ones , but fill-ins happen every week.

exactly, i've only done it once (last year) and it took months before my natural nails came back to life mehn
