I need serious advice. I only just started relaxing my hair about 6 monts ago and my scalp is soooooo dry and it itches sometimes. I wash my hair once r twice a week , but that doesn't help. I'm about to go and see my doctor about it 'cause it's uncomfortable. I can't say I have dandruff 'cause I don't see anything on my scalp. Maybe I need to change my relaxer or something . I've tried nizoral, tegarin, head and shoulder and some other tar product shampoo, but they ony help temporarily and I don't like the smell of some of them. Another thing is I tong my hair like almost every other day , so I don't know if that might be why i suffer painful and dry scalp. Someone pls tell me what to do. I took a yr long break from having chemicals in my hair , but then it got hard to manage so I went on and got a perm and now I suffer this. I need advice from the experts on what to do before going to my doctor, thanks in advance.

If Nizoral didnt work then I dont think theres any real advice anyone here can tell you. I suggest you just go straight to the doctor and have them check it out.
There are a couple of things that could have caused it though: One is that the relaxer you used was too strong for your hair/scalp. For example, Super relaxer should not be used on hair that has not been touched in over a year. You should probably use something Sensitive. Two is Athletes Foot. Athletes Foot can cause your scalp to become dry and itchy, sometimes can result in red and gray rashes on your scalp. Three is pulling your hair too tight too much can cause itchyness and peeling especially since your hair already becomes sensitive after a perm. I dont know if any of these may be the cause but like I said, you should see the doctor.

thx
I use super strength relaxer because when I use regular it never relaxes my hair. I have a strong feeling it might be the relaxer. It just started after I started relaxing my hair , and now I'm thinking of cutting it. Thanks for the advice though. |

leaving the hair a little dirty is good but not too dirty because as you wash ur hair your also washing off the proteins and it takes the hair about a week to restore the proteins back in the hair which is why hair is so weak after washing it, proteins give the hair body and shape, if it was up to me id never wash my hair but you need to get get rid of the dirt otherwise things can start living in there. especially when the hair is relaxed when you wash it you must treat it straight away. lets see if that helps ![]() |

you should know that tonging breaks the hair!
But i dont see what that has got to do with your scalp, but as for tongng, it damages the ends, leaving split ends and what people do is not trim the split ends and then the breaking process starts from there. If you are going to tong, you can, but not regularly maybe once every two weeks or so, or do what i do wear weave there you can tong and not worry about breaking your hair. when you are tonging your hair dont just tong it on your vulnerable hair, use something to protect the ends, you can use things like moisturizers (pink oil) but use beeswax as that is the best product to use to protect the hair from damage and splity ends thus it leaves it shiny and healthy. like i sed dont tong your hair too much though! |
