Interesting question that I couldn't answer...MEN come and answer

So my lil cousin, well she's not that little but younger than me, asked me a relationship question. She's been seeing this guy and he made a comment to her saying that other women were interested in him or flirt with him etc(my generic understanding & explanation). It sounded to her, like he was entertaining that attention. She said she got irritated because she felt like he was trying to bait her, to see her reaction to it so she told him she would talk to him later. Anyhoo when she called me, I told her to blow it off but then I wondered, cause I've seen my male cousins do it to where they will flirt with a women or say things to see how the girl reacts etc...My question is do you do it to feel like you're still wanted by the girl? Is it a potential exit strategy, where you want her to get irritated enough to break it off? Is it just you being honest, i.e open communication, or you being a jackass?

it could be any of the options stated. i don't think there's a straight answer for all guys, i guess it depends on the person?

Yeah that's what I thought. I haven't met her guy yet so I could only go by what she said. I told her to blow it off till she had something more concrete to go by.

he is jus saying it to her so that she knows he is in demand and hence should treat him better as he is WANTED COMMODITY. IN ESSENCE, feel lucky that you got me cuz i am in demand. he is nursing some hidden insecurity if you ask me
