Braid bumps

I just got the tightest braids I've ever done in my life and now there are bumps all over my hairline... the back looks like a disaster zone and the front also has bumps all over my hairline... there are even some inside.

Anyway... it's been a week and the braids don't hurt anymore (I almost died on the first day)... for those of you with experience with this BS, is the damage done in the first week, i.e. if this thing has destroyed my hair, there's no use taking all of them out (I've already taken out some from the back but will redo them in a day or two) or is it just best to take them out now as there might be further damage to my hair?

was there some white stuff on the hair?
If, yes, you have lost the hair.

I've been googling around and it looks like most of the damage has already been done so I might as well just enjoy the braids. I'll try to do that when the itching and soreness finally comes to a stop... but the one good thing is that they do look nice.

There was one particular braid at the back that had a lot of white bumps surrounding it. I've taken that one out and the hair seems to be fine. If I lost any hair, it's not noticeable...

The hair around the little bumps will fall out. All you can do now is try your best to protect the rest of your hair; clean, moisturize, and don't keep the braids in for too long.

...dude that sucks. ginseng oil or peppermint oil will help stimulate growth for the area where u lost some of ur hair

Me i haved sworn off braids- 6 months and going strong.
