white vs african american

so i met this really hot white girl, so as i told her i was Nigerian, so in the course of our conversation she told me she liked this nigerian guy so badly. but he said he could never date a white girl, but he could date an African American. now he said because they will understand him and his culture better. this white girl said she did not get it because Africans Americans are as clueless of other cultures as white people. so my questions is will African Americans understand Nigerians more than white people?

I would certainly hope that he couldn't.

There is no default that dictates that African Americans will, in fact, be more knowledgeable about, and understanding of, our culture. It would seem to make sense that they would, but a lot of AA are downright ignorant, both generally [towards], and of any single African culture.

Actually, it seems like whites who are open to marrying Africans are more likely to get into the African culture than African Americans.
