I need a true Historian for this

So my boy who happens to be yoruba continues to tell this bogus story of how the Edo ppl originated as children born of slaves from the yoruba ppl. No bullshit, I really think he believes this story of his. I need someone else preferably yoruba and not bias to set him str8.

i knew a chic in my secondary school her name was Iyabo Guobadia, thats all i can remember..oh i know some edo people with the last name omoni but then i came to the states and met yoruba people with that last name.

Can u support this claim with an article or research paper? I have heard same names with different meanings obviously but that proves nothing.

I don't know about them being slaves. I thought they just migrated to the south east Even so, the benin empire was comparable to the oyo empire..
