What a strange video. Not only does it seem that the lady's responses have been edited out to make it seem like she didn't have anything to say, the man has taken to rewriting history, socio-economics, and whatever else he could lay his hands on, just to help justify Islamic aggression.

First, while Ibn Rushd should be regarded as a force that helped in the rise of European enlightment, it's ridiculous, then, to claim that the fact that his works were banned by the pope is an example of Western civilisation. It makes no sense to claim in one sentence that Averroes inspired the dawn of Western enlightment and then claim that actions that preceded the enlightment are a great example of the behaviour of people after said enlightment. What's ironic is the fact that while he seems to know about the historical aspect of Ibn Rushd, he doesn't seem to be aware of his philosophy. To compound the irony, Rushd promoted secularism, which the man in the video seems to dislike.


Second, Bush is neither a terrorist nor an extremist, nor did he smash the WTC towers with planes - Islamic terrorists and extremists did that. You could argue about the premise of the "war on terror" and its necessity, and about the Iraq war, but to equate them with terrorism and extremism is, in my opinion, to equivocate. Furthermore, It was Bush senior that fought the Gulf war, and it was a necessary response to Saddam Hussein's efforts to takeover Kuwait. What's more, neither Bushes has destroyed an entire nation or people. Saddam, a fellow Muslim, tried his hardest to accomplish that, though.

Thirdly, Afghanistan hasn't been destroyed: as far as I can tell, it's still there and has a government. so, unless he's equating the Taliban regime with Afghanistan the country, he's very badly misinformed. Officially, the Taliban was ousted because of their support for Osama Bin Laden, and the suspicion that they were hiding him. Again, you can dispute the legitimacy of that; however, it would be misleading to suggest, as he has done, that America's initial support for the Taliban against the Soviets and the eventual ousting of the Taliban, had anything to do with their religious affiliation. In fact, it's downright asinine.

Finally, Bush hasn't said anything about fighting a war against Islam. To say that he has is to tell a lie. There's a very good reason the International community is wary of Iran owning nuclear weapons - which aren't peaceful, by the way. One particular reason is the belief that it may use it against its neighbour, Israel.

I have seen the first video. Honestly, after seeing this one, I don't understand how this interview went. Does anyone have an unedited full-length video of this discussion? I am asking this because it would appear that at first the woman started off saying her points, and in the end, the gentleman in the second video refocused the issue leaving the woman dumbfounded in the process.

I hope that's not how it went down.

The whole thing is quite long, and the only thing we have been able to see has been edited parts. But from what I have seen, the man was able to refute most of the ladies points very well.

After listening, to me, the only person that makes sense here is Kag. Like Anibus, im just seeking the reason why someone would open a thread, present a clearly edited version of an interview and has the audacity to draw conclusions in public with the hope that some like-minded individual would share the same view. If its too long then dont post it rather than edit it and give us a lopsided piece. I wonder if the thread starter is throwing out a bait to see who the shallow minded character is that will dare make any sense out of this slapstick.

But the same guy first posted a thread with her initial argument only and referenced it above, and when that was initially posted months ago, many came and sided her without demanding the continuation...as you now struggle for. This is the sequel myfren.
