Hi people, it's been a while i've been in the religious forum but i see some of you are keeping it alive.
i was just thinking earlier today how God acts in mysterious ways. nobody really knows the thoughts God has or why He acts the way He does. Paul was by all standards, a messenger of God and he wrought several signs and wonders in His name, but even though he healed the sick, he himself was not healed of his own affliction. he prayed to God but still wasn't healed. 2 Corinthians 12: 6 - 9 6Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say. 7To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. and same with Elisha, who even had a double portion of Elijah's anointing. the barren gave birth, the dead were raised, the Jordan was parted and he was a great prophet. by all standards, this was a man directly in tune with the Spirit of God. but then the Bible lets us know that even he died of a sickness, of which he wasn't cured. and funny enough, even in death, his bones were still working wonders. 2 Kings 13:14;20-21 14 Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. "My father! My father!" he cried. "The chariots and horsemen of Israel!" ... 20 Elisha died and was buried. Now Moabite raiders used to enter the country every spring. 21 Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man's body into Elisha's tomb. When the body touched Elisha's bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet. ...and even in more recent times, most of us must have heard of Smith Wigglesworth. he's referred to as the Apostle of faith, a pioneer for the pentecostal revival in the past century or so. he performed many miracles in Jesus' name, but he himself died of kidney stones. I just find God amazing because, like Paul says in that scripture above, God is telling us "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." let us be still and know that He is God and He makes all things beautiful in His time. Ofcourse iit doesn't always have to end like these 3 cases quoted up here; there are countless cases where one prays and is healed instantly. only that in some cases, that is the way God wants things to be. Just thought i'd share. If you have anything to share, please feel free ![]()
