[These are just characters, most based on real life...I'd try not to reflect my opinion on these situations, I just want to see what y'all think.]

Dear NR,

This is complicated.

My name is Jide. I'm an engineering student.I just broke up with my girlfriend. I didn't enjoy the "relationship", she forced it on me and we broke it up eventually when we realized there was nothing in common between both of us.

I feel she is scorned, bitter and in self-denial about the whole thing.It was a messy break up, I made mistakes and she made more, even trying to put me on a guilt trip and putting ALL the blame on me...but I digress.
As of a month and a half ago, I started re-talking to an old friend...things are going well. We haven't spoken for a while but we bumped into each other a while ago and things are shaping up.

My only problem is that it's a pretty tight nigerian circle. I heard froma friend of my ex that my ex has been telling her not so nice things about me and the "relationship".

Now this my new friend has started ignoring me lately, talking to me with disgust...things just dipped. But I don't think my friend knows that I know she knows my ex has been talking to her.

Even our friendship is in the mud now...and I'm sitting here trying to study for finals...but it's so hard thinking "What should I do? What should I do?"

NR Help me.

don't kill yasef over ur ex and ur friend that u just bumped into. ain't worth.if they can't realise how special u are as a person.....then fuck them.

Open up and tell your friend your side. Also gently chide her for not asking to hear your side of things. Call up your ex and tell her to flippin' grow up.
