Ryders..can you identify this name? Help needed

So I used to volunteer with this orgnaization that needs my help....since I'm the only Nigerian they know they sent me this email. They help new immigrants and they are trying to help a family from Nigeria but have no idea how to communicate with them. The family speaks no English and they are trying to find an interpreter.

"wonder if you can help me to find someone from

Nigeria

from this region who may be familiar with the name and possible language that the person may speak? The name is Efuwape. A principal from an EPS school is looking for someone to translate school info to the children who have just come from Nigeria. The parents do not speak English enough for us to find out where exactly in Nigeria they are from. "

So please help ryders....do you know where this name is from or which language they might speak. I think it sounds Urhobo or from Delta, but I have no clue. Help please!

it sounds delta. Which is more reason I will be suprised if they do not speak pidgin english.

Doesn't mean its Yoruba tho.Im trynna translate it but so far no meaning.

True that, but when you consider that they lived down the road from me, and that the names of the kids in the family were Babatunde, Temitope, Modupe and Funmi in that order, then that they come from Idoani, it kind of makes them appear to be Yoruba...

Just a thought...

Oh wow....you guys think it's Yoruba. It didn't sound Yoruba to me. It's so hard, because they didn't even give me first names so I could have a better idea.

I'm going to ask my grandma if it's Yoruba....she would know. Thanks guys...keep posting any ideas you have.

Not sure, but sounds like around Ogun state area.....had a classmate in Abeokuta with the name then.

Dang Yooba peeps dey yab sha, even me sabi the meaning of that word.

Its a Yooba name, no brainer. there is also Afuwape actually some regions call it that way the other Efuwape, has a link to one of those names picked from an Old Yooba incantations. Can also be translated Our Gift is forever something in that line., not too sure again.
