1950- immigrated to the US from ROmania with the name Trifa Viorel
Claimed he was a political prisoner. Later became a priest and rose to become an Archbishop of Detroit Romanian Orthodox church.
Took the religious name Valerian Trifa
Was an ardent follower of Hitler. As well as a member of Iron Guard-anti semetics. He was the editor of the Iron guard newspaper.
Was a Nazi war criminal involved in the murder of over 100000 Jews in Romania.
30 yrs old eye witness, Charles Kramer, a New York Romanian immigrant i dentified him and insisted he be investigated on.
Trifa denied all accusations.
During an investigation, the forensics found 1942 post card he sent from Germany which he signed in his name in the collection of archives. They also found out dat during the war, he wass living in comfort.
Denied the postcard being his or ever written/sent the card.
a thumb fingerprint was found 30yrs l8r using a laser detecting tech which matched his. Was a latent finger print. It became the olderst print ever detected.
He was deported from the US. for 2yrs, no country accepted him. Portugal took him in. He died in exile in 1987 in Portugal.
