in igbo language alot of things are spelt the same way but pronounced differently.

for example. Egg, bed, clothing are all :
Akwa

is this also common in other nigerian languages.

Yes, at least in Yoruba. I believe that the majority of Nigerian languages are tonal, Yoruba has three tones...

cry too is spelled akwa

then bicycle, crowd, king are all spelled igwe

eyin eyin eyin

All mean different things

i was just thinking about this yesterday. i was talking with someone about the meaning of the name Amaechi and we realised it could have several meanings - "do we know tomorrow", "if we know tomorrow", "the road of tomorrow" and "may the road not be blocked"...

Depending on the tone in which you say it, yes.

Egbe means gun and kite(bird)
Atu chewing stick, example, landmark,antelope(?)
Okpa okpa(food), leg, harvester/reaper
