just want to know what peeps from ur cultural settting be saying after childbirth especially in the first year....

i 'd heard that that during bathing, if the mother( or whoever bathes the baby) is gifted enuff she could actually mould the baby's head to somn cute..

also heard that the mum sucking out the baby's mucor

boosts the mother's immune system

myths i say,but what else have u heard??

they suck out the mucus when the baby is congested, never heard about it boosting anyones immune system
i don't know much about my dad's side but my momsie's side, the grandmother stays the first year
my dad's side they twist the child about to make it more flexible

Oh the myth about squeezing the nose to make it smaller? Yeah right! Doesn't work.. if the baby has a big nose. no amt of squeezing will change anything

For my whold childhood and part of my adult life, I believed the story I've always been told about holding the baby's cheeks to give them dimples. My grandmother told me that's how I got my dimples and I believed this, until I told some friends and they laughed at me for hours. Damn them for ruining my childhood belief....

re...sucking the mucous out of the baby's nose....EWWWW!

My cousin swears by it. She did it on her little girl and the baby's got dimples

See...so maybe there is some truth to this. My grandmum had 8 children and almost all of them have dimples, but I'm the only granchild out of like 20 who has dimples .......she said you have to do it consistently when the baby is smiling, but hmmm.....I think it's probably a hereditary trait than the pressing of the cheeks.

All I know about sucking the baby's mucus, is that it is done because babies can't blow their noses.
