SAFE LOVE
While buying a box of condoms it dawned on me that safety can be wrong. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about sex. In the bedroom yes, you have to keep it wrapped; but in the living room where love is supposed to bloom safety can be a trap. They say better safe than sorry. I'm sorry, sometimes it's worse to know nothing can go wrong; to know no force is strong enough to make the journey rough. Nothing can rock your world when you're protected; when every request for a connect is detected, scanned, probed, accepted or rejected to make sure your soul is not infected by a virus or trojan. Funny, now we need protection from trojans. But back to the topic: Intimacy, and how we stop it. How we start to speak our mind but drop it so we won't get out of pocket. We fear to expose ourself to the other side because they won't let us cross that line of scrimmage and we fear to ruin our image so we hide it from the other. We're so afraid of being rejected, afraid the image reflected in their eyes is despised by the beholder. But when we withold ourselves we rob the lover of the loved and replace it with a glove leaving no prints; nothing that distinguishes us from the world, and this extinguishes the love that first sighted us and excited us with with thoughts of discovery; of lovers uncovered under sheets or in sweet conversation or heated argument. But nah you went and hid all that away! But that way we cheat ourselves as well cos being loved is swell but what does it matter if it's not the real you being loved, but rather the five percent of personality you've gathered together and choose to display? the one month of history you choose to replay? What does it matter? Wouldn't you rather be free and naked? To see the risk and take it? To show yourself to love and let her know yourself? and though rejection might hurt it's definitely worth it for the chance to have a dance with someone who accepts your connection, trojan horses and all.

Great poem...but reminds me of Felas sex stance.
![]() i first thought it was headed in the direction of condoms onli protecting the physical, while allowing even worse- soul, spirit, emotional and physical rape, pollution and deterioration. Nice poem...In a world of married couples!
