Can you hear them?
The little gems that remain condemned
Can you hear them?
The leafless branches that hang from crippled stems
Cause I can hear them
Little children running around unfed
The arrested development of kings and queens
Death from hunger & diseases has become the fate of my siblings
So I ask,
Is it the misconception of life that brought the conception of Christ?
Cause though he was taken from us, it’s the mis-education that is really the heist
I heard the words of God in a song bird called Kuti
Telling me stories of an “Unknown Soldier” harassing unduly
Or chants of “Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense”
The answer to our problems lies in the definition of life’s essence
The basis of our foundation is created from greed
This creed has been planted and embedded in our seeds
It’s said every man shall control their own destiny
So since corruption has been our propensity
Then as a people, we have to battle our demons
Or our kids shall continue to forward their dreams
And their kids suffer from the choices of our father’s regime
Can you hear them?
