Default Wanna Grow your hair Long??

Yes, i borrowed this from another website, but I think it's a great idea..and they make you pay to post there, so i figured I'd put it over here to see if anyone was interested.

It's basically a Boot-camp for hair!..read and see if doing all of this is worth increasing your hair length!..I think it is for me
you don't have to sign up or anything...but it's just useful info..I think!
enjoy!

2007 LHCF Boot Camp
Starting January 1, 2007

This is the ULTIMATE Length Retention Challenge!
It is a combination of some of the most successful LHCF challenges (based on my thread research ) and those that require the most discipline. This challenge is not for the faint of heart, fickle, or easily swayed but for those who are unwaveringly determined to retain every mm of growth that comes out of their scalp in 2007.
Get those tickers ready! Who will survive?

Here are the RULES (Basic Traning):
No Direct Heat (Hooded Dryer is acceptable)
No Trimming (Dusting is allowed)
Deep Condition w/Every Shampoo Wash

Optional Levels of Difficulty:

Gold Level:Only Protective (Buns, Braids, Twists, Weaves, etc.) or Low Manipulation (Braidouts, Rollersets, etc.) Styles

Platinum Level: Gold Level + Your additional personal challenge– EX:
Buns/Baggy, Vitamins, 3- month relaxer stretch, All Natural products, No combing/brushing, etc. Its whatever you decide, but let us know which challenge you add.

This challenge will have 3 sessions. Each will be 120 days long:

One Session – 120 Days: Discipline
Two Sessions - 240 Days: Diligence
Three Sessions – 360 Days: Determination
You can sign up for 1, 2, or 3 sessions.

Those who make it through 3 sessions will reap the greatest hair reward!!

Cheat Sheet
You will have one emergency pass for each session. Use them wisely! Please post to the monthly update when you have used one.

Emergency Example A: My ends were sooo thin & scraggly I just HAD TO trim 1inch. My hair looks so much better and I am back focused on Bootcamp.

Emergency Example B: My sister is getting married in two weeks and my SO/DH has been begging me to wear my hair down so I am going to flat iron my hair this weekend, and then I am going straight back to my bun and Bootcamp.
ONLY ONE EXCUSE!!! <---- My mean face

CONSEQUENCES – If you are serious about this challenge, you can decide on a punishment if you do not live up to the requirements. For example: No fried food for a month, 2x my normal exercise for two weeks, No LHCF website for two weeks, No new products for two months, etc. (Notice the positive tone of the punishment). For every action there is always CONSEQUENCES! So get one in mind...to hold yourself accountable!

ACCOUNTABILITY: Throughout the challenge, we can post monthly updates. Also, if you have one please post your starting point picture. You know LHCFers want to results.

DOES YOUR HAIR WANT TO REAP THE BENEFITS OF BOOTCAMP? Sign up now! Cut and paste please

I am going to commit to ____ sessions. I have _________!
I am going to challenge myself to complete Basic Traning!
Also, I am going to raise the stakes and do _________ level!
My additional challenge will be ____________________. (for platinum only) My consequence will be _______________. I am excited to do this for my hair! I will do my best to post a starting point picture by January 1, 2007 and I promise to report updates in the montly thread! Lets do this!

I don't think they were too strict on the specific products to use, however, they did say strictly natural products..that means yo have to read the labels and see what's in your products.
a good source for naturally made products for both natural & relaxed hair is http://www.carolsdaughter.com/

My hair is natural too, and I'm doing it...i just did two-strand twists in my hair two days ago..so I'm a little late, but I've started...that counts as a protective style for naturals

yeah as I said in the previous post...I just did some double-strand twists...so I'm down for it.
Boitin is a natural supplement/vitamin that aids hair & nail growth, you can get a multi at GNC...this is one of them

Its definitely worth it, sort of been doing it all on the Platinum level for a while, and I've seen a lot of positive changes. I'm big on protective styles (buns/baggy), relaxer stretch at least past 3mths, vitamins, and hair styles that req no combing (pin curls instead of wraps for example), no direct heat.
It gets easier as u go along, Its definitely the way to go!

@seen, trimming doesnt really save hair in my opinion, the objective is to take care of the hair so there are no split ends to trim, once the hair is completely healthy, no point trimming every month. Dusting is just clipping the ends

@pebbles, buns is just basically keeping the hair in a bun so the ends arent exposed. Baggies have different types, the objective is to seal in the moisture in the ends, and then some cut up old stockings, and cover it up, and then put it in a bun, or get a "fake clip bun", and cover it.

@Faseda, it really depends, when they say wash, most of them are prob doing conditioner washes, and many wash 2x a week, 1x a week. I've done 2-3x a week, and done 1x a week, just depends on how lazy I am. I usually air dry when I do that, oil the ends, and put it in a bun.
Braids shouldnt be kept too long, and u have to remember to keep your hair moisturized underneath, because it'll defeat the purpose if u take it down, and the hair is suffering.
Plus the taller you are, the longer it will take to get to your hair goal. So someone who is say 5'5 has a quicker chance of getting to the mid back you want than someone who is 5'9.

so should we do this ?

Maybe we should start with texture and lenght shots. Give a brief description of what our, Daily, Weekly and Monthly Routines will be and what products we will be using. I'm game. And to think i was just going to open my hair blog today. LOL.

@MI princess. Mid back to me is above BSL (Bra Strap Length) Bra Strap would be like in two years. I think if i keep doing the protective styles i should get there. my problem right now is i braid with extensions, i get some length, then i start shedding then i cut it all off. I want to keep my length and get some more full ness to my hair. Because this box braids which i did for the first time as opposed to Twists is a little too spacy for my liking.

Hopefully they expand with the moisture in the air.

I can't answer all your questions...I don't honestly know all of them..I'm learning as I go, but a friend of mine who is a stylist that specializes in natural hair-care told me that I should not wear braids in my hair for more than 3 months at a time, and when I take them out, I should let my hair rest for at least 2 weeks before putting them back in
