Bottled Dreams

I envision myself courting amongst kings
Feel the wind blow gently beneath my wings
Have the ability to be whatever I dream
Whatever my subconscious can scheme
I could be an athlete that runs for miles
A doctor that saves lives or a Lawyer that wins trials
A father that can indoctrinate his son
One that is hated by none
But before my life could begin, I was crippled
I lay my bed straight, but somehow ends up rippled
I foresaw so much, only to be on the other extreme
And through lives’ glasses, can only see bottled dreams
So I’m far from being a doctor or lawyer in contrast
And the only miles I run are backwards, thru my shattered past
I’ve seen my very own life through someone else’s eyes
And what I see is one far away from lives’ prize
I have cancer
And although it’s killing my dreams, there is an answer
I’m a cup that is half empty
I’m far from a failure, but u can call me unsuccessful quite simply
I have sought for help, and my problem was diagnosed
My problem out rightly exposed
The cancer I suffer from is procrastination
I’m frozen, stuck somewhere in the middle of anticipation
And till I someday rise up like a phoenix
I shall weather away in my own conflicts
But if like chemotherapy I can stitch up my seams
Then maybe I can finally break open my bottled dreams
