Default Wireless Router..............Recommendations anyone?

I'm trying to get a router for my internet (Comcast)...............can anyone offer suggestions please?

I'd rather buy it than rent one from Comcast (seems like a cheaper alternative in the long-run). However, I've no clue regarding stuff like this. I looked up some info online and I am leaning towards Belkin Wireless Pre-N router or G54 Cable/dsl Router with aoss (Buffalo AirStation Wireless Cable & DSL Router).

A lot of the reviews I've seen online seem like gibberish to me................I'm clueless when it comes to electronics and the like.

So suggestions anyone???? I would really appreciate it.

it depends. if you just want decent home networking, go for the Linksys WRT54G - wireless G broadband router. That is perhaps one of the most decent out there and it's linksys.

If you got some bucks to spend and want more juice that the average router, then get one that has SRX technology such as the WRT54GX. The farther away, the more advantage -- up to 8 times faster than standard Wireless-G (802.11g). You also get better range coverage with reduced deadspots.

If you wanna be cool - you could get a Linksys PoE (Powered over Ethernet) enabled device. PoE enabled devices are devices such as wireless Access Points and Voice over IP (VoIP) phones that are powered via the Ethernet cable. PoE eliminates dependence on power outlets. All u need is access to Ethernet port and you'll be good to go.

Also consider Pre-N routers. They are pretty good too. More speed and range. Sorry for the late response, hope this helps

Good question. I think naija already has LAN/WAN networks based on Ethernet Technology. Not sure how large, but your wireless router should work.

the newer linksys routers are crap. they always need to be rebooted. their quality control and testing has gone down the drain. after 6yrs i finally moved to dlink and it was a good decision. if u do decide to go with linksys check out dd-wrt firmware. check out tomshardware.com too for diff reviews.

bulls eye bro !
i'm currently on a linksys BEF model and the thing is killing me softly !

I use Netgear @ home & linksys @ work. Linksys i presume is used by most but i prefer Netgear. I have had no wahala with it.

you've prob had an older one for a while or u rarely have a lot of connections. the newer ones are major problems. i've never rebooted my dlink. running dd-wrt on my last couple of linksys routers (did a few exchanges) didn't even help much, open torrent connections easily overwhelmed it.

for those of u leeching off unsecured networks be careful. someone can leave their connection open on purpose just to sniff packets sent by leechers so mind what kind of sensitive info u send on such networks
