I'm in the market for one. What do i look for in a sewing machine? What brands are recommended?

Try Singer, it might be a little pricey but lasts for ages.

This is the one I have. Babylock Crafter Choice:

I just started sewing and I think it's a good machine for a begginer because it has an automatic threader. you push on a button and it threads the needle for you.

You have a choice between using the presser foot, or using the start/stop button.

Another ryder gave me this site, and it's great. They have reviews on different types of machines, so if you see one you like in the store you can check it out at the site.

Some fabric stores also sell. Or Ebay.

However I'd suggest buying it from a sewing machine place because I've heard they will offer free sewing lessons on how to use your machine and beginner sewing and servicing your machines if it has a problem.
