Yo, I know this is the holiday season, but for a moment
let's think about those who have none Those we left back home or better yet those without one, and wish them a better existance, a moment to think about them and not just us. Depth of the Human Soul At times I find myself feeling affinity for those without the oppurtunity that I've been given & pray God will forgive me for being selfish With the blessings bestowed upon me If just for the reason of being overseas While I have cousins in Nigeria with no food in the kitchen Whole house is empty like they just did spring cleaning If not for this, then for every missed oppurtunity brought about by flimsy excuses Of why I can't spare a couple of minutes To volunterer at a soup kitchen And that's just the depth of the human soul Cause we never worry about misfortune until it hits close to home & happens to a very one of our own And........ that's just the depth of the human soul And uh........That's just the depth of the human soul Nope! I choose for it not to be the depth of my own Cause calice to other's sorrows will be the death of my own Sorry for those out there with no home Regardless of winter or summer, they're always cold Deprived of the warmth and kindness of another they're always alone As we walk by as emotionless as stone With no second look at his physic So how could we notice his feet & see that he's wearing shoes without soles And......... that's just the depth of the human soul .......that's just the depth of the human soul But yo, "could you please hold, While I flip this homeless Joe Some change so he could leave me alone?" And for most of us, that's just our M.O But yo, let me take you to a time long ago O.K. Not too long, but long for most Atleast I think so Cause I wasn't even born till seven years post In the 1980s everyone wanted soul glo But no one wanted to see their soul glow As crack broke up the homes people couldn't see past their nose Too concerned with jerry curls, couldn't see past how long their hair grows And everybody knows the havoc that crack wrought Now everybody, imagine if it was store bought So what's the moral of this poem I wrote? Really, I know, but then I don't Cause it's really left for you to figure out the depth of your soul So let me ask you.......... What's the depth of your soul Can somebody please tell me........... the depth of your soul
