Video communication on the internet is in its infancy. In the past 12 months, video has moved from "the next big thing" to actually being big. Recall...MySpace being bought by Rupert Murdoch's media empire, YouTube got gobbled up by google and jumpcut got yahooed!
You may not have heard of jumpcut (www.jumpcut.com). This site is on of the few sites that allows you to upload you video and edit it online. Hitherto, most of us have uploaded other people’s materials with some difficulty. Editing it required a movie editor (free as with windows movie maker or at a cost of $100 or more). Now sites like jumpcut allow you to edit online. However, the whole creative process is not linear yet. Few, if any sites allow you to create, edit, store and share your digital media in multiple formats (with online automatic transcoding). Distributing your media with simple drag-and-drop is also now possible with some site (http://www.helloworld.com) For more details, check out the following sites: http://www.jumpcut.com http://www.onetruemedia.com/otm_site/public_home http://eyespot.com/ There is an interesting blog posted on the EdTechPost blog pages: http://www.edtechpost.ca/mt/archive/000777.html |
