You never invite me ooo

Well one person picks out the cloth that's gonna ba used ie wrapper, headtie etc. and sets the price each person has to pay. The people that are gonna be using the asp-ebi then pay the price for their own piece, usually to a designated person, who has either bought the cloth already, or is going to be responsible for buying it.........

ain't that right ladies?

2) the family agrees on one from a selection.

3)Each member of the family pays for their own fit

C'est fini.

Ebi means "family" in Yoruba and aso means "cloth". So Aso Ebi is family cloth. The ideas is to be able to signify who is part of the celebrants family. It also common to include close friends. For weddings bride and grooms side choose a common fabric to signify they are part of the groom or the bride's family. At funerals the same idea applies, or even at birthday parties. Aso Ebi can be anything, whether it's just a color, or a particular fabric (ie lace, ankara, woodin, damask, etc). It's not mandatory, but it's fun and so beautiful to see at big parites and celebration.

Selection and paying for it is describe above.
I hope that helps.

Aso ebi is also another way of 'making money' for the newly weds to start a new life, cos you pay a little bit more than you ordinarily would and the profit is given to the couple as a gift. Sometimes people who join to buy the aso ebi don't get the couple anymore gifts since they've already 'given' a gift.
