new flat iron recommendation

at least new to me...

andis 1" ceramic flat iron. under $15 at walmart, $26 on the andis website. i did my entire nappy head in a little over an hour with no blow drying (dunno if there is a 2" iron). i washed it the day before & put it in 10 braids to air dry. then i let out each section & flat ironed it in about 2-3 smaller sections using a little coconut oil. this is the closest i've gotten to salon straight.... definitely a thumbs up

definitely a good buy... its great for my natural hair i have two of them... one for me and one for my clients...

actually if this flat iron is what i think it is, then it is supposed to be the best thing on the market right now. it is safer than every other hair iron and is even better than using a dryer.

yup. no perm for 7 years & counting. and with my new conditioner i didn't even have to use detangler. i've had an electric flat iron with metal plates for the longest & it just collects dust because without a perm it doesn't get the hair straight enough

i hear that adding heat can damage your hair and change the pattern of your natural hair. Anyone find this to be true?

I have the same thing, got it at Walmart in the states,.... it's about $30+ here in Canada

Good stuff, works really well!

ps: my hair is relaxed

i think it does change it a little after a long time, but not as much as a perm. and if you don't use too much heat & not all the time, i think you'll be o.k. 2 years of a perm changed my hair more than 10 years of pressing did before the perm

Actually, it depends. Some folks are lucky and they can apply as much heat as they want and their hair still retains its natural capabilities. Others apply heat even only once and the hair straightens and never snaps back. Me, I no dey put any heat near my hair oh. I think I've used a blowdryer only twice in 2 years

my hair doesn't get straight from heat , it used to straighten out when I had a texturizer now the heat only makes it look like a puffed up afro
