Managing Cramps

I was 14 when i started my period and my life has never been the same again

there was a point when i didn't even notice aunty flow arrived....extremely painless.
but this past year and some, i've being seeing red each month.
I find that taking ibruprofen a week before helps. And of course during my period.

What sort of things do you do to manage your cramps if you have them bad.
Does anyone have a cure for PMS?!

I don't ever get cramps Sorry sha, my sister takes advil. One of my friends takes prescription drugs

mine aren't that bad, but i get back aches, and need a heating pad or a massage (i prefer the latter). i don't take any meds. sometimes i get zero pain, but it comes back to haunt me the next month

Am planning on going on the mountain for 30 days prayer and fasting

see your doctor for prescription for BCP (birth control pill). This should significantly reduce the amount of cramping you have. However going on the BCP comes with other side effects. Talk to your doctor to see what's best for you.

I used to have horrible cramping, until I started using the BCP. I was on it for about 2 years with no side effects at all and ZERO cramps, but then in the last 4 to 5 months I started getting this awful excruciating migraines. So I talked to my doctor and told him I wanted to stop. I haven't had any migraines since stopping the pill, but now my cramping is back full force and I'm back to moaning and groaning from all the pain. Advil helps sometimes, but not always.

@ Nimo i'm trying to avoid Birth Control cos i don't want my body to change.
So last month i took ibruprofen one week before my period showed up and continued taking it until the last day. that's a lot of pills!
this time around i took ibruprofen just once the week before, and today it's not as bad but it's definitely not painless. it's been excalating hourly and i don't have any medication with me.

I think the BCP and weight gain thing is a myth. I didn't gain 1 ounce while I was on it, and I was on it for 2 years. I think people use it as an excuse for weight gain.

I think that as long as you continue healthy eating patterns or if you like the way you are, then don't change your eating habits and you won't gain weight.

I use Advil now, and it reduces it, but I find the same thing as you I end up taking like 4 a day, which I'm sure is disastrous for my liver. Sigh, but what other options do I have......if I go back to the pill I get migraines, if I don't I have cramps. I choose the lesser of 2 evils, and try to manage the cramps. Some people say drinking a lot of water and continue to strectch througout the day helps with cramping.

I don't think it's a myth oh. But then I think I gained 5 pounds when I was on it. Of course it could have something to do with the fact that I was chowing down Chinese food like it was going out of business... hmmm, pork fried rice with fried chicken wings...yummy I don't eat that kind of food anymore though

sometimes when it comes, I can sense a bad cramp coming for the day, so I take my advil in the morning and I am good to go. I get really bad cramps sometimes cus I am atheletic.

get of it and give ur body 1-3 months to catch up and then u will wish u neva been on it.

@ Nene why? Ibruprofen is actually recommended as opposed to Advil cos it has acetimophen which Advil doesn't have and is supposed to be less dangerous.
