Naija Girls and Braids

Why is it that anytime a naija girls go to do their hair, 90% of them do briads? Is it the unofficial hair do of naija gurls or do we just have a whole bunch of brandy wannabeez?

Lets discuss this issue, cause come may now, 8 out of 10 girls will have braids.

I wonder the same thing..

I'm thinking it's the freshies... or maybe the one's in the US.. no one here wears braids.. and if they do it looks like real hair.. very tiny and only braided one inch ( the ends are loose )

Please ladies.. buy a hair book..!! There are plenty other styles

I think it's because of the low maintainence , I mean thats why I get them all the time .

Yeah, braids are easier to maintain, especially when you're in school and have a busy ass schedule that won't allow you to go and get your hair done every other week, as well as the fact that it gets kinda expensive if you're practically broke all the time!!

low maintenance. please, una no dey efa wash that tin(i guess that is low maintenance). kai, like schillachi said, make una atleast spray someting on am, it booms.

LOL. Question for those that always have braids in. How do you wash your hair when you have the braids in for 2 or so months?? I don't do braids often and I just took my braids out after having them in for 2 weeks. I couldn't stand them any longer.

I think a lot of people get braids because of the low maintainance (like someone said earlier). You know, if you have braids, you don't have to fix your hair everyday.
I don't know if it's a certain group of people that get braids, cos I know people who have been here for like ten years or more, but everytime tthey go to Nigeria, they come back with braids.
Personally, I can't stand braids on my own head cos it takes too long to put them in, they hurt, and I want to take them out the second I get them.

just keep it maintained. i see too many girls with dandruff falling off their head due to not taking care of the braids. make it look presentable.

I just happened to be lucky and have a Beutician for an Aunt and she always tell me that inoreder to keep your hair looking good(braids) wash them every two to three weeks and keep your scalp greased and dont let heavy braids air dry because t leaves a bad smell.

So there's my advice on braid maintainance

honestly I think it's the idea that we can claim fame to a white chic type long hair but still have the africanness as a cover... shuuu we!! all know a lot of us can't have hair that long... Besides Black Opal, I nefer see anybody nachy hair wey long pass in shoulder... Opalicious keep that hair o.. If I hear u cut it I will disown you

besides, braids are easy maintainance, and no hassle shuu put braids on me anytime and I'm good to go
