Default Healthy Nigerian Food

A lot of people complain about how eba and other Nigerian dishes make them fat. Do you know that most Nigerian dishes
can be healthier for you? I have older relatives in this country
who started having health problems and switched to strictly
Nigerian dishes and their doctors are amazed.
I mean all our vegetables, especially ugu (which I hear lowers
cholestrol and helps BP) are better than lettuce & co. As for soup, my mum cooks soups with a few drops of oil and it tastes as good as the one with oil.
I feel you can eat Nigerian food and stay trim and healthy. Any one with opinions or other healthy Nigerian food tips to share?

gal that is true and you also have to face the fact, that even with those heavy dishes, they are all natural made from scratch and by the time you trek for 30 mins after a big plate like that, you have no choice but to stay fit. Oh how the americas have spoiled us

Naijas eat a lot of fish and veggies in their soup, and the pepper in that food probably speeds up their heartbeats and makes the metabolism work faster ! All that running for molue and ocada, and all that hustling just to get ish done definitely helps too. Also ,the HEAT makes people sweat off like 5 pounds a day!!

I eat Naija food a lot 'cause I'm a morsel food lover I can't really eat much of anything else . My aunt said ur shit is supposed to float , if it ain't floating then u ain't eating right , and when u eat Naija food ur shit always floats 'cause it has a lot of roughage and high fibre content.
