Akata looking

For guys, what is your impression of guys who wear earrings and braid their hair. Its not really in our culture and its all an attempt for us to look like hip hop stars or ppl we see on TV (most ppl will not accept this). I once braided my hair but I won't be able to really do it again bcos of U know what. Also, I think earrings are irresponsible for guys bcos what will U tell ur children when they ask what is that hole in ur ear. This is all relative to being Naija sha. For Akatas dem, e no mean.

No!!
But for real though, I don't really mind when it's one piercing. Multiple piercings can be unattractive, but as per braids, either they look good on you, or they don't(cos you have an akara shape head) I know of some Naija guys who have their hair braided and look GORGEOUS, and some don't....it depends on the pesin. It's the uck of the draw!!

I feel u r right sha. As some Naija guys want to look all janded and thuggish. I agree say it fits some pple but for our culture, plaiting of hair and earring na woman own o(at least for my side).

hhhhmmm that's true. My mother has always had something to say when she saw men with piercings and braids. I'm sure if she had sons she probably would have frowned if they tried to do it too. I personally prefer a well shaven man. Earings are cool with me, but I hate seeing men with cornrows!!! Dreads on the other hand look nice on guys. i dunno, that's just me.

Akata looking aint in our culture. Naijas too like to form. Be urself, U will be loved. Define the trends. Be a setter of standards and not a conformer. There aint anything all that in looking Akata that is good.

...and you know what is funny about the whole thing? some misguided folks have told me they plait their hair so they could be more African...I can count how many times that I have told them there is nothing African about a man plaiting his hair and putting on earring...it is the Africans that are copying you....if you ask me, it is the blind leading the blind...

i think earrings look really sexy on some men. Though it depends on the shape of homeboy's head and face. I love men who wear studs, like the diamond type. but i just hate the sight of these localite bushingtons who put a huge loop or padlock on their ears....that thing makes me wanna..puke.
I have never seen a naija guy that look pleasant with cornrow...they always remind me the god of thunder (shango). and that ish is maddd scary
