Default How to look after your hair...this is what you need

People think looking after 'negro' hair is a difficult task, it is not.
Here I have composed a way to look after you hair, to encourage healthy hair growth and do it all on a budget

1)
When you decide to relax your hair for the first time, GO TO THE HAIRDRESSERS, NOW ISNT THE TIME TO BE ECONOMICAL

2)
Do everything to your hair in sequence, so that your hair can also get used to you.
For example, set a time that you always relax your hair (like every 6wks, coz my hair is short that's how often i relax mines)
Don't try to stretch out the relaxer for as far as possible, remember you want your hair to remain healthy, stretching your hair out encourages split ends and straw-type hair. Just becasue your hair is due doesn't mean it should be braking.
If you set a time frame for each relax, watch how your hair grows according to the time frame

3)
Don't wash hair to often, hair is best happy in its natural state, hair products are designed to feed the hair proteins for strong and healthy hair, if you keep washing it out, it leaves the hair dry and damaged unable to grow and be happy!
i suggest you wash hair according to the length
shrt hair-1 1/2 wks-2 1/2 weeks
medium length -2-3 weeks
long 3 weeks
anymore time after that, the hair starts to smell, and become itchy.
Make sure you condition wash, by this i mean, after washing, you can add a wash out conditioner when it has towel dried, one that, you can also add mayonnaise or carrot oil.
the trick is not to put too many products at one time.
After you have rinsed it out, now put in a leave in conditioner, I do this and then i add mayonnaise becasue that builds up your hair and gives it body.
Drying is at your peril, I dont normally have time becasue after washing i HAVE to style so i blow dry. Think of the comb you are using. DO NOT USE A THIN TAIL comb. it will break your hair, hair is most fragile when wet,if you notice, it is much easier to rip out hair when wet, use a wide tooth comb or a round brush to give it the straight effect. Grease hair straight afterwards.
Greasing hair is very important, because it takes so long and I dont do it often coz of time I buy the cream that guarantees to not give me dry or ichy scalp after a period of time (SoulMate from nigeria). I only grease my scalp once a week, but if you find your constantly getting dry scalp, change your cream

4)
Just becasue you go to the hairdressers every week, it doesnt mean your helping your hair
Excess heat, breaks your hair PERIOD
you dont need to steam your hair every three weeks. Infact every three months is advisable
The thing is people think that over treating their hair is good...NOPE.
a simple wash and condition is fine, steaming doesnt have to be done all the time

5)
Make sure you dont over moisturize.
especially the teenagers, they want t go to school with their hair looking slick. Over moisturizing makes your hair unable to breathe and makes it greasy, which means you ave to wash it out on a regular basis, breaking your hair in the long run.
Moisturizing once a day is enough, not three, four or five times.

6)
Trim, trim, trim
When ends are splitting, they cant repair themseles, they only spit more and break off, chopping them off enables length to be acheived
People have this myth that trimming makes your hair grow faster, HOWSO?? Your not touching the routes, your only trimming of the ends...
If you find sudden growth after trimming, its coz your hair was breaking in the first place

6)
Gel doesn't break your hair, its the too much gel that does
People have this phobia abt as soon as gel touched them they are doomed, I used gel and my hair doesn't break, its the ones that use TOO much gel......

well thats all i have for now, hope this was helpful!
