Default My take on black women myth about hair

1) Water is bad for your hair

I know I'm not the only one that had that notion, most Black women I know do, but after joining a hair forum, and actually switching around, my hair has been the best state ever, healthier, thicker, stronger, and longer. I wash my hair maybe 2-3x a week, initially i was doing 3-4 depending on how lazy I am, but I do conditioner washes instead of shampoo washes(which I do every week/2weeks depending on buildup). Co-wash doesnt strip the hair like a 'poo wash would. Plus they enable me to stretch out my relaxer to 12 weeks instead, thus reducing overprocessing and overlapping, and not making the hair weak.

So my take is moisture is good for the hair, at least I know it works for me.
Moisture is key for hair growth
Water=Moisture
so Water is key for hair growth

hey whatever works for you, lets just say it works for me and those who do it, and I've physical personal proof
ends are silky and soft, and my hair is thick, healthy and strong, its all about moisturizing, even while stretching, and the conditioner washing enables that.
Dont knock down what you dont know about

Realize i said conditioner wash my dear, no shampoo wash. But folks shouldnt have the mentality to relax every 6 weeks, thats why the hair stays limp, cause of overlapping for real.

for regular conditioner wash, you can use any moisturizing conditioner, i use cheap VO5, and Paul Mitchell to name some. For my deep conditioning, I'm a Dominican lover so I use Silicon Mix which is a Dominican conditioner, and my hair feels like butter afterwards
Conditioner wash is easy to do and isnt a hassle, just kuku do it when u take a shower, I do mine at night, plus I can easily airdry my hair in a bun and get it straight without using heat.

My hair has grown like 4 inches since I switched to Mazani relaxers. i dunno how it is any different from any other relaxer so don't shoot the messenger. my hair has never been this long before.

I don't know what conditioner wash means...you just wash your hair and then poor conditioner over it??

Do you sit under the dryer and deep condition or what?

Mizani, Affirm, Phyto(the expensive one that Oprah uses) and certain others dont have your hair looking limp. Then again it could be other things you are doing thats keeping the ends healthy, but whatever it is, is working, so go ahead girl!
Conditioner wash is basically washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo, I do that 2x a week, and I use a shampoo like every week or so. I deep condition once a week using Silicon Mix, sometimes I use the dryer, other times just leave it in there for an hr on its own. It helps with my new growth, so I can stretch my relaxer longer and I comb my hair while wet, and put it in a bun, so when it dries it turns out straight. I use a seamless comb, the Jilbere de Paris shower comb is the best thing since sliced bread, its not ripping through my hair, so I dont lose hair that way. I got hip to conditioner wash over the summer, and now I cant go a week without wanting to pour water on my hair.

Wow. Hmm. I usually comb my hair in the shower with the same large tooth comb I regularly comb my hair with (dual goal cuz then i keep my combs clean!)
Do you do it two weeks into a new perm? Usually a relaxer will be tight for me for the first 3-4 weeks ...then look like a hot mess after I start washing my hair.

yeah I do it 2 weeks into a perm, even right now, I'm 6 weeks post, did conditioner wash last night, airdried in a bun and you couldnt even tell. I usually put it in a bun when wet, so it dries that way, most of my hair ends up straight including my ends for most part.
